Make sure you have all the ingredients listed in the recipe and all the utensils you will need to make the pie.It is a really easy and almost foolproof pie to make, almost because you do have measure the ingredients and if don't, you could mess it up. EDIT: Don't forget to pick up a pie shell. There are frozen pie shells in your grocer's freezer or the graham cracker ones in the baking section are good with pecan pie. Take it out when it reaches 170. Set it on the counter and cover with foil. It needs to "rest" to redistribute the juices and finish the cooking. It will reach 180 in about 20 minutes. Then you can carve it. If you carve too soon, you will lose the juices and it will be dry. I modified it a bit so it would taste better.Ingredients:Sugar syrupFood coloring of your choice (optional)Glass jarPaper clipStringPencilPour some sugar syrup into the jar. Add some food coloring if you want to. Tie a piece of string to a pencil. Tie a paper clip to the other end of the string. Remember: your pencil should be longer that the diameter of the mouth of your jar. Suspend the pencil on the rim of the jar and immerse the paper clip in the sugar syrup. Leave undisturbed for a few days, after which you will see a rock of candy forming on the paper clip. Look out for ants. Actually, this takes a bit too long for my liking so I just freeze some apple cider or something and lick on it

I always prefer to make it fresh just before serving. If you must make it ahead then whip it to be very stiff and keep it in the fridge.Remember to put the beaters and the bowl in the freezer for a few hours before whipping for best results. 3 weeks ago Everybody gave me good answers.
